One Month

Cole was one month old on Wednesday, October 19th!  I am a little delayed in posting as it has been a bit busy around here :).

We went to the pediatrician on Friday, doc says he is doing great.  He commented on how well he was controlling his head and neck and how alert he is.

Here are his stats:

Weight: 12 lbs (95th Percentile)
Height:  22 inches (75th Percentile)
Head Circumference:  16 inches

Cole is changing and growing everyday.  This past week I have noticed that he is really focusing in when he is looking around, he has found the ceiling fans and stares up at them.  He is also finding his voice and cooing and making the cutest little noises.  We have been putting him on his farm yard activity mat, he likes it for short periods of time.  I have a little mirror that sits up on the floor that I put on the mat and he just stares right into it.  I don't know that he can see himself, but he sure does stare!  He is still a little cuddle bug and prefers to be held if possible.

He can also be very serious at times!
Sleeping is getting better, we are usually getting up only once in the night for a feeding.  Generally he goes down between 9 and 10 and wakes up between 4 and 5, then goes back down and gets up for the day between 7 and 8.  This of course could change, but that is where we are right now!

Saturday FUN

This morning we took Cole to Jack's football game at Showalter field.  He slept the whole time but was a trooper!!  We even brought Jack's team some good luck, they had their first win of the season.  It was so cute seeing all the little guys out there in their full on football gear making plays.

Splish Splash I love bath time

Bath time has become something we look forward to every night.  Cole seems to really enjoy it!  It is a nice way to start the bedtime routine.  He's only 3 weeks old but we are starting to implement a few routines throughout the day.  We usually start bath time between 7 and 8, then he hangs with Daddy while I clean up and do things around the house that I was unable to get to during the day.  Daddy gives him is bottle shortly after and gets him nice and full for bed.  He goes down anywhere between 9 and 10 and sleeps usually for 4-5 hours.  I go down around this time too!  Then we are up twice during the night for feedings.

Here is the little cutie in his bath tub...

I even try to help Daddy hold the bottle

3 Weeks Old

How has it already been 3 weeks?!?  Time is flying by and Cole is changing and growing so quickly.  He is doing great and Todd and I are loving every moment of being parents.

Today is the first day that Cole and I have been completely on our own.  Todd was off work for the first week and my mom has been here for the past two weeks.  It was so great having her here with us!

Cole slept in his crib last night for the first time, we decided he was ready to move from the bassinet to his big boy crib and he did fantastic!  He is sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night, I have been trying to go to bed when we put him down between 8 and 9, that way I get a little extra rest before the nighttime feedings begin :).

Here are a few pictures of what Cole has been up to...

September 19, 2011

The day started out bright and early, we were scheduled to checkin to the hospital at 4:45 a.m. to start the preparations for my C-Section.  After tossing and turning for most of the night Todd and I anxiously headed for the hospital around 4:15 a.m.  with all of our bags in tow we arrived at the hospital to begin our adventure into parenthood.

As we walked in through the emergency room entrance the nurse behind the counter laughed at us and said "You must be scheduled, you look to happy to be in labor." We headed up to labor and delivery to begin our preparations.  By 5:45 a.m. I was all preped and ready for the delivery, our parents joined us in our room for a visit before they took me in.

so excited!!

My C-Section was scheduled for 6:45 a.m.  around 6:40 my nurse came in and said we would be rolling within 4 minutes, OH MY GOSH it is really time!!!  I said my good byes and headed to the OR.  The team of doctors and nurses were AMAZING, the four anesthesiologist made the epidural seem like no big deal!  After I had the epidural they brought Todd into the OR, my two doctors came in and we heard Cole scream at 7:20 a.m.!!!

After the delivery Cole and Todd went to wait for me in the recovery area, I arrived in recovery just before 8 a.m.  we spent close to an hour in the recovery area before heading up to our room.  After arriving in our room it was a day filled with excitment, love and so much joy!

The day we have been waiting for...

As my due date is quickly approaching we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first son Cole Anderson Cooper.  I had my final doctors appointment today, still no dilatation...  he is very comfortable and content in my belly I guess!

So, we now have an official game plan.  I will be going in for a C-Section on Monday, September 19 at 6:45 a.m.  since he is already pushing 9 + pounds (according to the ultra sound from last week) the doctors decided to let me go a few days early!!  We discussed the various options of being induced vs. having a C-Section.  Knowing how big he is helped us make that decision pretty quick.

We are just thrilled that he will be here in a few short days.  In the meantime I am trying to find ways to occupy my time, while getting as much rest as possible.

Next time I post he will be here :).
